Historical Evolution: The institute evolved from the Young Scientists Studio initiated by Professor Jian Liu of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT). Its affiliated discipline is a national key Double First-Class discipline, which has ranked first in the Soft Science World University Rankings for five consecutive years.
Faculty Team: The institute currently has 12 faculty and staff members, including 3 professors/researchers, 2 associate professors, 3 assistant professors/assistant researchers, 1 senior technician, and 3 engineers and administrators. In the past five years, 1 team member has been selected into the National High-Level Talent Program, 1 has won the Provincial Outstanding Youth Fund, 2 have obtained the Provincial Excellent Youth Fund, and 3 have been admitted to the Young Talent Support Program. The institute has established exchange programs with world-renowned universities and authoritative academic institutions, such as the University of Oxford (UK), National University of Singapore, University of Tokyo (Japan), National Institute of Standards and Technology (USA), National Physical Laboratory (UK), and University of Nottingham (UK). It maintains close academic cooperation with a number of international academic masters and currently has 8 overseas visiting professors.
Research Directions:
Focusing on the field of intelligent manufacturing, conducting research on ultra-precision 3D microscopic measurement and instrument technology;
Focusing on the field of medical health, carrying out research on computational imaging and intelligent microscopic instrument technology;
Research on intelligent instrument technology and its applications such as stereo vision measurement.

As the first accomplished person, he has won 1 National Technological Invention Award (Second Class) and 1 Science and Technology Progress Award (First Class) of the Chinese Society for Measurement and Test. He has presided over more than 20 projects, including the Key R&D Program for National Major Scientific Instruments and Equipment Development and the National Natural Science Foundation of China projects. He has published 2 English monographs, dozens of SCI-indexed papers in international journals such as Nature Biotechnology, Small and MST, and obtained nearly 100 authorized invention patents.
