Li Pengxiang is a probationary Party member, a 2021 undergraduate student of the School of Instrumentation Science and Engineering, majoring in Measurement and Control Technology and Instrumentation. During his undergraduate studies, he has won 5 national-level awards, obtained 2 patents, and received 10 provincial and ministerial-level awards. He has also been honored as Three Good Students in Heilongjiang Province, a recipient of the Huawei Scholarship, Excellent League Member of the University, Excellent Student of the University, and a winner of the First-Class People's Scholarship, etc.

1. Academic Excellence with Outstanding Achievements

Since enrolling in the university, Li Pengxiang has always been inspired by the saying Diligence is the path to the mountain of books; hardship is the boat to cross the sea of learning. He has always set strict standards for his academic pursuits, being diligent, down-to-earth and proactive, attending every class earnestly. While mastering professional knowledge, he also explores knowledge in other fields. He is good at drawing on interdisciplinary theories and methods to continuously enrich his knowledge reserve, enabling himself to view problems from a more comprehensive perspective and solve challenges with more flexible thinking. Among all the courses he has taken so far, 32 have scored above 90, and 11 have scored above 95. He has been awarded the First-Class People's Scholarship, the Second-Class People's Scholarship and several individual scholarships.

2. Abundant Fruits and Numerous Honors

Every day since I entered Harbin Institute of Technology has been extremely fulfilling. I have met various people, made friends who move forward side by side, and been exposed to cutting-edge technologies and projects that I never imagined before. I really enjoy this process, said Li Pengxiang. The Freshman Annual Project Plan opened the door to scientific and technological innovation for him. Due to his strong interest in physics and mathematics, he participated in the Chinese University Student Physics Academic Competition as a member of the university team in his freshman year and won the first place in the first prize of the Northeast Division. In the School of Instrumentation, I have been fortunate enough to meet many like-minded classmates and outstanding teachers. Through communication and cooperation, I have entered the world of scientific and technological innovation competitions. The journey was not smooth at the beginning. Fortunately, with the careful guidance of teachers and the joint efforts of teammates, the supervising teachers put forward specific suggestions on the overall project structure and presentation, and arranged senior students to personally guide the experimental operations. The whole team worked together as one, which ensured the smooth progress of the project. Later, he successively participated in the National Undergraduate Mathematical Modeling Competition, the Mathematical Contest in Modeling, the National College Student Mathematics Competition, etc., winning awards ranging from the first prize in the division to the second prize at the national level. In the China (International) Sensor Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the two entries selected by him and his teammates, closely integrating subject research and aerospace applications, won the first prize in the Innovation Application Category and the second prize in the Innovation Design Category of the University Group respectively. He has forged ahead steadily on the path of scientific and technological innovation and reaped numerous honors.

3. Exploring the Unknown and Challenging the Cutting-Edge

Academician Tan often encourages us to participate in competitions and projects that interest us, set our aspirations early and strive for them, said Li Pengxiang. Both the story told by Academician Tan Jiubin about going from a borrowed experimental table to the podium of the National Science and Technology Award, and the college motto of Challenging the Cutting-Edge, Serving the Country with Instruments have deeply touched him, inspiring him to explore the unknown in more fields. Relying on the large platform and large team of the School of Instrumentation, Li Pengxiang entered the laboratory in advance in his junior year to carry out subject research. During this process, he deeply understood the significance of project-driven learning in reverse. By participating in various projects, he not only acquired professional knowledge, but also cultivated innovative thinking and problem-solving abilities, and gradually mastered the skills to strengthen the country through instruments. Meanwhile, by applying the thinking of knowledge transfer, he has also performed well in other fields. In the National College Student Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Social Practice and Technology Competition, focusing on the goal of green technological innovation, he and his teammates designed and produced a flexible sodium-ion battery for the high-value classification and utilization of waste textiles, winning the national first prize and applying for two national invention patents.

4. Selfless Dedication and Spreading Warmth

Li Pengxiang believes that university is a process of all-round growth. In his spare time from study and work, he actively participates in volunteer service activities, including campus promotion, anti-epidemic services, voluntary snow sweeping, and library services, with a total of 75 hours of volunteer service. He was rated as an Excellent Anti-Epidemic Volunteer of the University for the 2021-2022 academic year. At the same time, he takes an active part in club activities, cultural and sports events, improves himself through various lectures and seminars, and fully experiences the wonderful life on campus. In his freshman year, he served as the study committee member, and his class was awarded the Excellent Academic Atmosphere Class of the Basic Studies Department. In terms of cultural and sports activities, he organized and participated in the 4th Instrument Cup Badminton Tournament, and won the Excellent Essay Award at the university level in the 6th My Favorite University Classroom activity.

In the future, Li Pengxiang looks forward to continuing to actively participate in various volunteer service activities and make it a way of life. He hopes that through his own efforts, he can continuously make more contributions to society, influence more people, and contribute his share to building a harmonious society.
